Zelda in trouble By Susanne sage_of_evil@hotmail.com Chapter one Link and Mauru were bored. Half asleep, they sat under a tree and tried to figure out something fun to do. Link was about to fall asleep when Mauru suddenly got an idea. "Hey, Link!" he yelled. He was a boy Link's age who usually lived in Kakariko Village. One day he decided to become a hero. He went to Hyrule Castle, and the guards introduced him to Link. Now the Hero of Time was responsible for Mauru's safety. "What?" Link asked with a yawn. "I have the most fabulous idea!" Mauru said. "Listen here." "Which one of you guys put a lizard in my bed?!" princess Zelda asked the two boys furiously. She looked at the two young men standing behind her - Link and Mauru. "Uhh...I didn't do it," Mauru said. Zelda turned to Link. "Link!" she cried. "You're such a bum!" "Traitor," Link murmured and looked at Mauru with cold eyes. He put his nose in the air and went out of the room. Mauru ran after him. "Link! Wait for me!" The princess sighed. She'd been ready to go to sleep when she'd found the lizard in her bed. The suspects - Link and Mauru, of course - had been standing outside her bedroom door, laughing. That's how she discovered that they were guilty. Princess Zelda picked up the lizard from her bed and put it on the floor. "Shoo!" she said, waiting for the lizard to obey her orders. "Go away!" A cloud formed around the lizard. "I'm not planning to leave, princess," a voice laughed. The lizard transformed into Ganondorf. "You!" Zelda screamed. "Insensitive son of a lizard! Walk into a lady's bedroom like that! And I'm not even properly dressed!" She picked up a towel and held it up in front of her. "Get out!" "Interesting," Ganondorf said. "I've never seen a princess in night dress before." Zelda was wearing a long, white dress with red roses on. The towel she held up was purple with a Triforce mark on. "Hmmpff!" she snorted. "If you're here to stay, I'd prefer to wear something else. Let me change clothes." "All right, I won't look," Ganondorf said and turned around to face the wall. Quickly, princess Zelda changed from night dress to something more comfortable - which was a purple tunic and tights in the same color. She put on her boots, a belt and a vest and turned to Ganondorf. "Ready," she said. "Are you going to abduct me or something?" "That was pretty close to what I had in mind, yes," he answered. "If you're not coming of your own free will." She sighed. "Are you after the Triforce again?" "Not this time. I'm looking for a wife." "A WHAT?!" Zelda laughed. "You're...you're actually going to marry someone? Who's the unlucky one?" Ganondorf smiled. "You are." Link and Mauru sat under the same tree again. The Hero of Time considered Mauru as a traitor and refused to talk to him. "Link?" Mauru said. "I...I'm...uhh...sorry that the princess...uhh...the lizard...I mean...after all, it was my idea." "Hmmpff," was all Link bothered to say. He looked the other direction. Mauru was sorry about the lizard episode, but Link didn't even look at him. He didn't know what to do with Link to make him listen. But he didn't have to do anything. A guard came running towards them. "Link! The princess - she's gone! The only thing that's left in her room is a message!" "What?" Link cried. "Zelda's gone? A message? What message?" The guard gave him an envelope with Link's name typed on the outside. Link opened it with trembling hands and read it aloud. "I would be honored if you came to my wedding. I'm waiting for you. Yours sincerely, Ganondorf." Chapter two Zelda sat on the floor. She was hungry and thirsty, but most of all she was angry. She was angry with Link and Mauru, but most of all she was angry with Ganondorf. Ganondorf, on the other hand, wasn't angry. He had a thoughtful look. "Princess?" "Now what?" Zelda asked irritated. "Would you like a white dress? Or do you prefer purple?" "I don't want a wedding dress." "Well, you can't go without clothes." "I'm not going. By the way, where am I? I'd like to know which way I can take to get rid of you as soon as possible." "You're in Gerudo Fortress, dear," Ganondorf answered. "How do you like it?" "It's awful." "You better get use to it. You're going to stay here for a while, after all." "No, I'm not. I'm leaving - right now." Zelda ran to the door and opened it. Then she stopped with a gasp. The ground was very far away. Actually, it was about 50 feet away, and there was no ladder. "Ha ha ha," Ganondorf laughed. "You can't escape, dear princess. That's too bad, isn't it?" "Shut up, monkey breath." Link was worried. He didn't have anything for breakfast. He didn't eat lunch. He didn't eat dinner. At the end of the day, he was starving. And he still didn't know where to find princess Zelda. "Link?" a voice said. "Hmm?" Link murmured. Behind him stood Mauru with a plate in his hand. "I brought you some food." "I don't want any." "Liar," Mauru said. "All right, all right! Give it to me!" Link took the plate from him and ate like mad. "Ganondorf sent you another message," Mauru said. "What?" Link said with his mouth full of food. "Another message? Why didn't you tell me about that?" "I just did." "What's it saying?" "I don't know. I don't read other people's letters." "Well, give it to me, then!" Mauru handed the letter to Link. The Hero of Time opened it. He recognized Ganondorf's handwriting. He read it to Mauru. "Dear Link, you must be very angry by now. You don't know where I am, do you? I can give you a hint. It's hot here. Yours sincerely, Ganondorf." "I HATE THAT MAN!" Link screamed. "But Link..." "We're leaving. I think I know where he is." Chapter three Two of the Gerudos were walking in the Haunted Wasteland. They were on their way to the Desert Colossus. One of them suddenly stopped. "Sheraa?" the girl said. "Have you heard the latest news?" "Ehh...no - what?" Sheraa asked. "I heard that Ganondorf's going to marry someone. And do you know who?" "No, tell me." "That princess from Hyrule Castle. Why doesn't he marry a Gerudo instead of that little bitch?" The first girl was annoyed. "But Loora," Sheraa said, "he's a king, and a king must marry a princess." "Why? What's wrong with ME?" Sheraa started to walk again. "You're not a princess. You're just a guard." Loora followed her, and she looked sulky. "But I saw him first," she said. They walked faster now, and soon they saw the Desert Colossus. As they got closer, they saw someone sitting at the entrance to the temple. "Sschhh," Sheraa said. "Who's that?" They sneaked closer and hid behind a statue. Carefully, Loora looked at the person. "It's a blond young man wearing green clothes," she whispered. "I don't recognize him, but he looks gorgeous." "What's he doing?" "He's just sitting there. And he holds something in his hands." "What?" "Some kind of instrument, I think. Listen! He's playing a song!" Beautiful tunes reached their ears and circled around them, but the song sounded sad. The young man was surrounded by a purple light, which faded away after a while. "If you play such a beautiful melody, you can't be evil," Loora said. "Come on, Sheraa. Let's talk to him." They walked towards the young man, and he quickly got on his feet when he saw the two girls. He put his hands on his sword and looked at them suspiciously. "Who are you?" he asked. The girls took one step back when they saw his sword. "We're from Gerudo Fortress," Loora said. "Please, mister, put your sword away." "How do I know you're not here to kill me?" he asked. "Please, mister, trust me," Loora said. "We were just taking a walk, I swear. Please don't hurt us." A voice reached the girls from behind. "Link! Are you OK?" The girls quickly turned around and faced another young man, but this one had dark hair and blue clothes. "What are the girls doing here?" he asked. "It's all right, Mauru," the young man named Link answered. "I don't think they're here to fight." He walked towards the girls. "I'm sorry, but I really thought you were troublemakers. I've got some unpleasant memories about Gerudo guards." "I see," Loora said. "So...you're not going to...use that sword, right?" Link put it away. "Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you." "By the way, what song did you play?" Sheraa asked. "It was beautiful." "Zelda's Lullaby," Link answered. "It's princess Zelda's favorite song." "Oh." The sun was about to go down, and the sand was colored red by its light. The four people looked small standing next to the colossus. "It's getting darker," Loora noticed. "It's not good to be in the desert when it's dark. You shouldn't be here. Why don't you stay in the fortress over night? We can get you to the fortress without disturbing the guards." "Thanks, but..." Link started. "We can't let you stay here," Sheraa said. "It's dangerous." "All right. Let's go to the fortress, Mauru." Chapter four "We really appreciate your fine gestures, but is this really necessary?" Mauru said. He fingered on the dress he was wearing. Sheraa nodded. "Yes, I'm sure the guards won't recognize you dressed as you currently are." "But..." Mauru started. Then he looked at Link, dressed up in Gerudo clothes just like him. "Is this the only way?" he whined. Loora giggled. "You look EXACTLY like Gerudos." "Oh, what a compliment," Mauru muttered. They started to walk towards the fortress. The Haunted Wasteland was even more scary by night. When they reached the quick sand, Link turned to the girls. "How do you pass this river?" he asked. "You don't have any Hover Boots, do you?" "No," Loora said. "We use this." She put her hand in her pocket and pulled something out. "This is the Gerudos magic flying carpet." She held up a very small carpet, which grew bigger in her hands. When it was big enough to carry four people, she put it on the ground. "All right, guys, jump on board." They did as she told them to, and after a few seconds, they stood on the other side of the river. Loora put the carpet back into her pocket. "Now, let's see if the guards recognize you." "What if they do?" Mauru asked. "Stop being so pessimistic!" Sheraa sighed. She turned to Loora. "You go first." Loora began to walk. Link followed her, and Sheraa walked behind him. "This is madness," Mauru muttered. Then he followed the others. A guard stopped them at the entrance. "Stop! Where are you going?" "What does it look like?" Loora said. "To the fortress, of course." "Who's with you?" "Sheraa and...uhh...Maura and Linki." The guard looked at them. "All right. You may pass. But no more night adventures, OK?" The four young people nodded and passed her. They made their way through all the guards outside the fortress and went into a room at the far end of it. "Piece of cake," Loora said. "See? We got you inside." "Now, let's find princess Zelda," Link said. "I want her out of here." Chapter five Zelda still sat on the floor, and now she was very hungry, thirsty and angry. But she refused to ask Ganondorf for something to eat or drink. She thought about it again, and decided that she would rather die of hunger than eating in the same room as him. "Do you have any special wishes for your wedding day?" Ganondorf asked. "Flowers? Roses? Cake? Anything?" "I'm not going to marry you," Zelda snorted. "You're useless, you're ugly, you're evil and you're not brushing your teeth." "But I'm not always as useless, ugly and evil." "Correct. Sometimes you're worse." She moved into a corner and faced the wall. She was not going to talk to him, whatever he said, and she was not going to ask him for anything, and she sure wasn't going to marry him. Link and Loora climbed up the wall. Mauru and Sheraa was behind them. When they finally reached the top of the fortress, Loora pointed at a door. "That's where Ganondorf's hiding the princess." "But how do you get there?" Link asked. "It's a door in the middle of nowhere!" And it certainly was. The door was built somewhere above the fortress - about 20 feet up. They didn't see anything but the door - no building, no room...nothing. "Do you have a rope or something?" Loora asked. Link shook his head. "Only a hookshot." "Well, that may be our only chance to get up there." "But we can't hang there in midair," Link said. "We need something to hold on to." "You're right," Loora sighed. "The wedding day is tomorrow. Perhaps we should wait until then." "But what if they're gone tomorrow?" Mauru said. "Maybe Ganondorf decides to get married someplace else?" "We have to keep an eye on the hou...door," Link said. "We can do it in shifts." Loora stepped forward. "I can start. You go to sleep." "All right, I'll take the next watch," Link said. "Wake me then, Loora." "No problem." Mauru, Sheraa and Link lay down on the top of the fortress. They had no pillows or comforters but it wasn't very cold outside. Loora sat down and watched the door. Mauru had the last watch. He saw how the sun rose and painted the sky golden and pink. He turned to the sleeping Link. "All right, Link, time to wake up. It's morning." Link yawned and sat up. "Wake the girls." But before he had completed the sentence, Loora and Sheraa woke up without Mauru's help. In Gerudo Fortress, the sunrise is the alarm clock. "This is it, guys," Sheraa said. "We have to get down from the roof, or Ganondorf will see us." They carefully climbed down from the roof. There were no guards outside, because they were all changing clothes for the wedding. Link and Mauru was still wearing their Gerudo clothes. Loora and Sheraa already wore their best clothes, so they didn't have to change. "Where's the wedding going to take place?" Link asked. "At the Desert Colossus," Sheraa answered. "We have to get there before Ganondorf, so let's hurry up." "Wait, girls," Link said. "Can you play an instrument? Just any instrument?" "Of course we can," Loora said. "I can play harp and Sheraa plays the flute." "Do you think you can learn a new song quickly?" Link asked. "You see, Mauru and I can play a song which takes us to the Desert Colossus." "Well, I think so," Sheraa said. "I'll go get our instruments." She ran off into the fortress and came back with a harp and a flute. She gave the harp to Loora and held up the flute in front of her lips. Mauru already held his ocarina in his hands. "Play this melody," Link said. He played the Requiem of Spirit twice and turned to the girls. "Do you think you can do it?" Loora and Sheraa played the song together, and they were surrounded by a strange light. When the light was gone, so were the girls. "Let's go, Mauru." Link played the Requiem of Spirit again and warped to the Desert Colossus. After a few seconds, Mauru was there too. "What a cool song!" Loora said to Link. "Can you play other songs like that?" "Yes, but I can't teach you them. You never know where you'll end up when you play a warp song. I might send you to the Death Mountain Crater or something, and what if you can't get out of there?" "Oh, I see," Loora said. "But do you mind if we play that song you just taught us? It takes us here so much faster." "Well, how can I stop you from playing it?" Link sighed. "Sscchh!" Sheraa said. "I hear voices!" Link became quiet. The four people quickly hid behind a pillar. The voices came closer. "I can't believe I'm doing this!" a voice said. "Of all men in this kingdom, why did YOU have to kidnap me? I don't want to marry a smelly lizard! I feel like a prisoner serving life sentence!" "It's the princess!" Mauru whispered. Chapter six The other voice began to talk. "But dear princess, you should watch your language! What would your dad say if he heard you?" "Probably that I'm right." "That's Ganondorf," Sheraa whispered. Carefully, Link glanced at the couple. Then he sat down behind the pillar again, and he didn't care to hide his smile. "Holy Triforce!" he said. "Ganondorf's dressed in Din knows what." "What?" Mauru said. "Well, take a look," Link answered, still smiling. Mauru leaned out and quickly checked out Ganondorf's clothes. "I don't beliiieve it!" he laughed. Ganondorf was dressed in a white tunic with a golden belt, and he had a wreath of flowers on his head. He held princess Zelda with one hand and his sword with the other. Princess Zelda didn't look funny. She was pretty. Dressed in a white, long dress and with a golden crown on her head, she walked next to Ganondorf. "Do you know what I'm going to do with you if you marry me?" Zelda said. "I'll rip your guts out and give them to my dog." "That's not a proper manner, my dear," Ganondorf said. "You have to act like a queen, not just be one." The couple walked towards the Desert Colossus. All the Gerudos walked behind them, dressed in their best clothes. The priest waited under the colossus. It wasn't a Gerudo. Link took a closer look and found out who the priest was. "It's Rauru!" "Huh?" Mauru said. "Grandpa?" "Is Rauru your grandfather?" Link asked. "Why didn't you tell me about him?!" "I just did." The Hero of Time turned to the 'altar' again. Rauru was surrounded by three moblins, meant to keep him from escaping. "Ganondorf!" the Sage called out. "I am NOT letting you marry the princess!" "Why not? I'm as good as anyone else," Ganondorf answered. "Now marry us, Rauru." "Why should I?" the Sage answered. Ganondorf waved his hand, and the three moblins raised their spears. "Convinced yet? Marry us - or face the consequences. And you, princess," he turned to Zelda, "if you give me the brushoff, I'll kill Rauru." "No!" Zelda cried. "You can't!" "I bet you I can," Ganondorf said. "Do it, Rauru!" Zelda said. "But princess..." "Rauru, do as he says!" Zelda said. "You are important to us!" Rauru sighed. "We're gathered here today to..." "The important parts only!" Ganondorf said. "All right, all right," Rauru said. "Do you, Ganondorf, take princess Zelda to be your beloved wife and love her until you die - which will hopefully be soon - and so on?" "I do," Ganondorf said. Rauru turned to Zelda. "Do you...princess Zelda...take...this green lizard...to be your beloved husband...and love him until...you die?" "Say 'yes', princess, or Rauru will die," Ganondorf said. "Yes," Zelda said. "If anyone doesn't like this marriage, speak now or forever hold your mouth shut." "Stop!" Link shouted. He ran towards the Desert Colossus and drew his sword. "I'll speak now! Ganondorf, leave the princess alone!" "Link!" Zelda cried. She pushed Ganondorf and all the Gerudos away and ran towards him. Link catched her with his free arm and turned to his enemy. "I hereby nullify this marriage." "How dare you!" Ganondorf said. "Give me back my wife!" "She's not your wife, " Link replied. "And she'll never be your wife." "Exactly," Zelda said with a frigid voice. Link gave the princess his Fairy bow and some arrows. "In case of emergency," he mumbled. "How are we getting out of here?" Zelda asked. "We can't fight Ganondorf here. All the Gerudos will protect him." "Not all of them," Link smiled. "Come on!" He took her hand and they ran towards the pillar where Loora, Sheraa and Mauru still stood. "Take care of the princess," he told them. "I must help Rauru escape." He turned around and ran towards Rauru and the three moblins. With a little help from the Master Sword, Link defeated them and Rauru could escape. The Sage made his way to Mauru and helped him and the girls to hold back the other Gerudos. "Ganondorf, I'll see you again!" Link cried. He threw a bomb at the evil man and ran away before it exploded. "Loora! The magic carpet!" The Gerudo girl picked up the small carpet from her pocket and put in on the ground. It grew with incredible speed, and when Link had reached his friends, the carpet was big enough to carry them all. Loora, Sheraa and Zelda already sat on it, and Mauru and Rauru were on their way. Link was behind them and he jumped onto the carpet. "Go!" he yelled. Loora got the carpet up in the air, and they left Desert Colossus behind. Chapter seven They landed outside Hyrule Castle. When everybody had jumped off the carpet, Loora picked it up. "What are we going to do?" she asked. "Sheraa and I can't return to the fortress. Ganondorf will kill us." Mauru smiled. "You can come and live in Kakariko Village. It's a nice place - much better than Gerudo Fortress." "Really?" Sheraa said. "Of course." The two girls gave him a big hug. "Thank you!" "I will return to the Temple of Light," Rauru said. "I have to protect the Triforce from Ganondorf - and this time, I will lock the door." He disappeared into a bright light and was gone. "Well, let's head for Kakariko Village, Mauru said. "I'll see you again, Link." "Sure," Link said. "I'll be waiting for you." Mauru and the two girls walked away. Mauru had his horse in the market, so they had to take the long way back. "Goodbye, Link!" the two girls yelled. Link smiled. "See you again!" Zelda turned to him. "Thanks for the rescue. Not bad." "I'm actually quite proud of it." He took Zelda's hand and they started to walk towards the castle. "I'm sorry I disturbed you," Link said. "What?" Zelda asked. "I came there before you got the chance to kiss Ganondorf, and that was pretty rude of me, right?" "Well...you...Link, you're incorrigible!" The End
